Schiphol Lounges and Showers: Where to Wash and Rest Between Flights

Schiphol’s terminal is one building with three airside lounges, numbered 1 to 3, and that layout decides where you can shower: the Schengen side and the non-Schengen side have different lounges, and only one of the pay-per-use lounges has water. This guide covers the paid lounges, the showers, the spa and the hotel options for a wash between flights.

The pay-per-use lounges

Aspire Lounge 26, for Schengen flights, is on the upper floor of Lounge 1 and has been open from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm, with walk-in entry at around €50 for three hours; it has food, drink and work space but no showers. Aspire Lounge 41, for non-Schengen flights, is on the top floor of Lounge 2 near the E pier, open from about 6:00 am to 10:00 pm, with the same entry price and two shower suites at a supplement of about €20. Both accept Priority Pass and comparable programmes, and both can turn walk-ins away when full, so a booking in advance is safer. KLM’s Crown Lounges in Lounge 2 (Schengen) and Lounge 3 (non-Schengen) are for eligible passengers only, and the Lounge 3 lounge is directly opposite the Mercure Hotel Schiphol Terminal.

Showers without a lounge

Airside, the two transit hotels are the answer. YOTELAIR Amsterdam Schiphol in Lounge 2 has offered shower-only bookings, and every cabin has a rain shower if you take an hour anyway. The Mercure Hotel Schiphol Terminal in Lounge 3 has done the same with its rooms. Landside, citizenM Schiphol Airport four minutes from Arrivals is the closest full bathroom for a passenger who can enter the Schengen area.

XpresSpa and the sleep pods

XpresSpa’s two airside branches, in Lounge 2 towards the D to H gates and on the D pier, offer massages, manicures and the sleep pods, from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm, in the non-Schengen area. Our day rooms guide sets the pods against the cabins by price and length.

Hotel spas within reach

For a proper pool and sauna the Hilton Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, five to seven minutes along the covered walkway, has the Retreat QoQo spa with an indoor pool from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm; the Steigenberger Airport Hotel Amsterdam, ten minutes by free shuttle, has an 800 sq.m. spa with pool and sauna; and the Corendon Amsterdam Schiphol Airport has sold day passes to its pool and spa. All three are landside, so they suit a long layover rather than a tight connection. For the free version, our sleeping at Schiphol guide covers the quiet corners.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I pay to use a lounge at Schiphol without a business class ticket?

Yes. Aspire Lounge 26 in Lounge 1 (Schengen flights) and Aspire Lounge 41 in Lounge 2 by the E pier (non-Schengen) sell walk-in entry, around €50 for three hours, and accept Priority Pass and similar programmes.

Where can I take a shower at Schiphol?

Aspire Lounge 41 has shower suites for a supplement of about €20; Aspire Lounge 26 does not. YOTELAIR in Lounge 2 and the Mercure Hotel Schiphol Terminal in Lounge 3 have offered shower-only bookings, and any cabin or day room includes one.

Is there a spa at Schiphol?

XpresSpa has two airside locations, in Lounge 2 and on the D pier, with massages, nail treatments and sleep pods from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm, in the non-Schengen area. For a full spa with a pool, the Hilton on the walkway and the Steigenberger by shuttle are the nearest.
